Humiliating Dan Campbell clip resurfaces as Detroit Lions suffer shocking loss to Washington Commanders

Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions were victims of a huge playoff upset at the hands of the Washington Commanders on Saturday night, but the embarrassment didn't end there.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, in his rookie season, led his team to an impressive 45-31 victory to send the Lions (many picked to go all the way and win the Super Bowl) out of the postseason.

And while Daniels was celebrating at Ford Field, an awkward clip of Lions head coach Campbell resurfaced on social media.

Two weeks ago, when the Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings in the final week of the regular season to clinch first place in the NFC, Campbell was caught on camera telling Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell: 'I'll see you in two weeks.'

Campbell was likely just trying to be respectful of his defeated opponents rather than disparaging the rest of the NFC teams, but fans immediately pounced on the comments.

And now it shows what a difference a fortnight can make.

It was a terrible night for Dan Campbell as his Lions team was shocked by the Commanders.

The following week, the Vikings were defeated 27-9 by the Los Angeles Rams in a game that was moved to Arizona as a result of the Los Angeles wildfires.

It was even claimed that Campbell's comments were posted in the Rams locker room as additional motivation for Matthew Stafford and his team.

And now that the Commanders are ending Campbell and the Lions' season, those words have really come back to hurt.

“Turns out Dan Campbell was talking about seeing Kevin O'Connell in Cancun,” NFL Memes X reported.

Speaking to reporters after the game, a stunned Campbell said: “It hurts.” It was just one of those strange days.

'Things were a bit bad. It wasn't just one thing and that's how the day went. “We just didn't play very well.”
