Real Madrid have been told it is “only a matter of time” before Vinicius Jr moves to Saudi Arabia amid interest from several clubs.

The interest of the clubs “is still active”, according to reports from ESPNwhich also revealed that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) contacted the striker's representatives last month about a possible move for the Brazilian star.

The Saudi PIF, which controls Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Hilal, contacted Vinícius' team in December about a possible change.

However, any potential move for the 24-year-old would come with a huge price tag due to the presence of a €1bn (£844m) release clause in his current contract, which runs until 2027.

Vinicius has been in good form for Los Blancos so far this season, with eight goals and five assists in 15 LaLiga appearances.

He has also scored five goals in the Spanish team's six group stage matches to date.

Vinicius, winner of last year's FIFA The Best player award, finished runner-up for the 2024 men's Ballon d'Or after playing a crucial role in Madrid's march to a La Liga and Champions League double last season.

However, the reigning UEFA Champions League holders face a battle to automatically qualify for the top eight following defeats to Liverpool, Milan and Lille.

They return to action in Europe on Wednesday night, hosting RB Salzburg at the Santiago Bernabéu before ending their campaign with a trip to surprise Brest on January 29.

The current LaLiga champions regained first place after a 4-1 rout of Las Palmas that allowed them to capitalize on Atlético de Madrid's surprise 1-0 defeat against Leganés.

News of a possible move to Saudi Arabia comes after Vinicius Jr rekindled his long-running feud with Mallorca star Pablo Maffeo when the two met in the Spanish Super Cup on January 9.

The Real Madrid superstar and the defender have a history, having first faced each other during a match in the 2021-22 season when Los Blancos faced their LaLiga counterparts.

The Brazil international had been the subject of a tough challenge from Maffeo, and although the two were thought to have reconciled, tempers flared during the cup tie in which Carlo Ancelotti's side took a 3-3 win. 0.

It only took 10 minutes for the paper to turn between the pair, after Maffeo attempted to unbalance the striker with some overzealous early marks.

To defend himself, Vinicius waved his hand on the defender's chest, prompting him to drop to the ground to try to commit a foul.

Although Vinicius' team beat Mallorca, leaving him with the last laugh on Maffeo, they would be defeated 5-2 in the final of the competition by arch-rivals Barcelona.
