William Saliba will miss Arsenal's Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday but will return for their crucial Premier League match against Manchester City next weekend in a big boost.
Saliba did not train today after suffering a hamstring injury in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Tottenham last week.
Arteta said: “He is developing very well.” The last few days he was already feeling much better, but this match comes too soon for him.
When asked if Saliba could be a candidate to face Manchester City on February 2, he added: “Yes, I hope so.”
Ethan Nwaneri and Riccardo Calafiori returned to training and are in contention.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of strikers this January transfer window. The commotion is something Arteta has become accustomed to.
Mikel Arteta has confirmed that two key stars have returned for Wednesday's clash against Arsenal
Ethan Nwaneri, 17, will be available when the Gunners take on Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates.
Meanwhile, Arteta confirmed that Riccardo Calafiori is also available after returning from injury.
He said: 'I understand this also happens in the summer.
“I get a lot of people texting me: 'When are you going to sign him and him and something?' I don't even know what they're talking about. I don't follow it too much. I have enough work to do with a lot of things, so I don't get too distracted.'
