Amad Diallo appeared to fire a late shot at former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag when discussing life with Ruben Amorim.
The Ivorian is a rare Red Devils star who can look back on his 2024-25 campaign with some pride, having enjoyed his best form in a United shirt this season.
Diallo drew attention in the limited minutes he was granted by Ten Hag, but really came to the fore with Amorim. With the Portuguese he scored two goals and gave six assists.
Therefore, it is not surprising that he revealed his greatest happiness at the club since Amorim's arrival.
“Let's say maybe it's confidence because I'm playing a lot of games now,” he told Sky Sports. 'The way I am now, I've always been like that, but maybe the playing time and the confidence.
“But now I am happy to play more games and I just want to fight for the club, for the team, every time the coach gives me confidence and gives me the opportunity to play for this club, I just want to show that I can play for this club.
Amad Diallo opens up about Rubén Amorim's life amid his good start to the season
The Ivorian has been the Red Devils' most outstanding player since Amorim's appointment
The 22-year-old found it difficult to get game time under previous United manager Erik ten Hag.
“My dream is to achieve many things with this club, that's why I'm here. I want to fight for this badge and let's see what the future holds for us.”
The 22-year-old's form this year has been in stark contrast to many of his team-mates as United have struggled for results.
The Old Trafford club are 14th in the division after 18 games, having suffered defeats to Bournemouth and Wolves in their last two games.
Diallo has proven to be a crucial player in Amorim's squad and recent reports indicate that he is on course for a new deal.
The clock is ticking and Diallo's contract expires at the end of the season and United have the option to extend the deal by 12 months, but both parties are now working on a new package.
United have been in talks with the player for the past few weeks and are now close to agreeing a deal that will keep the 22-year-old at the club for the foreseeable future. ESPN reported.
Final details are currently being worked out, but there are no expected problems signing a contract to reward his recent performances.
