The last time the record of the record points of Derby County was under threat, the Paddy Power Betting brokers produced a parody advertisement in which two of their players relegated Alan Stubbs and Danny Mills met at Rams Anonymous Group.
Paul Jewell, manager of the second half of the infamous 2007/08 season, was also asked to participate, but the phone call lasted only five seconds.
“I was a bit insulted that people would think that would do that,” he says.
'I am not judging others, but for me, it was not a matter of laughter. It would have been disrespectful to make money with him.
'It was a very fast conversation. It was never happening.
That was in 2021 when Sheffield United arrived in January with only two points. They finished 20, leaving Derby as the worst team in the history of the Premier League, but now there is another contender with Southampton in six points of 23 games and facing Ipswich the next in Portman Road on Saturday.

The RAMS scored a record of record points -under 11, which is still maintained until the day of the highest category

Jewell's phone is starting to sound again due to his association. Derby already seemed convicted when he replaced Billy Davis at the end of November 2007, but still feels part of the load, handling only five other raffles of the 24 games in charge.
This time Ivan Juric seeks to redeem a desperate situation in St Mary's after the dismissal of Russell Martin.
'When you cut yourself to drift, it is a descending spiral. You feel that the gods are against you, 'Jewell sympathizes.
'Southampton is 11 security points. For any team, winning three in a row is difficult. Doing that just to be in contact Drena as manager, and definitely drain the players.
'We had the lack of quality of the Premier League and we could not build a steam head. If you are at a moving distance, you have hope. But we were not, and they are not Southampton either.
For Jewell, his first month was a murderer. After Worldie from Tuncay as Derby he lost 1-0 against Middlesbrough, Mark Viduka scored an 87-minute equalizer for Newcastle and Steve Gerrard, a last-minute winner for Liverpool. The worst of all, Steve Howard lost a penalty when Derby led Blackburn 1-0 and lost 2-1.
Instead of eight points of the four games, Derby got one and after the debacle in Ewood Park, a frustrated Jewell said on television: “Some of the things that go in the field among this group of players simply believe.”
He now recognizes that the players who mistreat whose trust was already much higher was not the most intelligent. It is a lesson that Juric can find useful.

The record is now threatened again, with Southampton in six points of 23 games so far
Ivan Juric, as Jewell was in 2007, is the person in charge of saving something of the year
Jewell has admitted that he was “too critical” with his players while fighting to act in the games
“I was too critical of them,” Jewell admits.
'We were making so many basic mistakes, but I was wrong to say they were not good.
'I found it difficult to be there to defend mistakes, but I should probably have done it because it is how it works. I was to blame.
'To be fair to the players, they were fighting, but it was like a rooster weight against a heavyweight in many games. Not many played in the Premier League again.
Jewell had previously enjoyed a remarkable managerial success with Wigan, whom he led to a final of the League Cup against Manchester United, and Bradford City that defeated the chances of staying in the Premier League. Remember to have talked to David Moyes on the way to take the work in Pride Park and have been advised by the Scotch that changes the car and do not appear. “It was tested correct,” Jewell smiles.
A great admirer of the former manager of the Saints, Martin, first saw his MK Dons team play in an exploration capacity as Football Director for Swindon, Jewell now wonders if he had done things differently after winning the final of championship play-off.
“Russell is very talented,” says Jewell. 'I am not here to decide, but sometimes I think that, as a coach, maybe Russell will admit this or do not believe it, you have to moderate what you would like to do with what you can do because it is a great Gulf for the Premier League.
'In Wigan and Bradford, we knew we could not take teams with our finger to the head, so we made it difficult to try in the games. Some of the goals that Southampton gave away, and we did it in Derby, makes it impossible because opponents do not have to work hard to score.

Jewell is a great admirer of former Saints Russell Martin manager, who was fired earlier this season
He suggested that the former MK Dons chief should have adapted his paths in the highest category.
'It is difficult to obtain balance in the right recruitment between experience and have legs. If you can't run in the Premier League, you have no chance.
Derby signed during the summer before his disastrous season with Robbie Earnshaw and Claude Davis the arrivals of Marquee at £ 3 million each.
Jewell regrets again in the market again in January: Robbie Savage was among several arrivals, when he now believes it would have been better to accept the descent and save the budget for the following summer.
With the day of the deadline arriving on Monday, he does not believe that a last desperate roll of dice is necessarily the right thing for the saints.
“If I had my time again, I would start looking for a team that could return to the Premier League instead of one to keep us awake,” he says.
'At this stage, you will not get tested players to come to you anyway. The Council for Southampton would be to see the long -term future of the club.
Southampton invested more than 100 million last summer in characters such as Aaron Ramsdale, Flynn Downes, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Cameron Archer, but until now they only got a victory, 1-0 against Everton.
Jewell is now 60 years old and did not return to football since he left Swindon, living in Yorkshire, where he helps people with dementia in the Bradford area. When possible, observe Chelsea where his son Sam is part of the staff.

Jewell has never believed that the record would be beaten, and says that the stigma of being Derby's manager that season “will never leave it”
He accepts that his management career ended effectively at the highest level for Derby's historically bad season.
“It is a horrible moment and Southampton will look and wonder where the next victory comes from,” a grimaces.
'The players are not dumb. When a manager enters a Monday morning, sometimes no matter what you say.
'The stigma of being Derby's manager that season will never leave me. I have never believed that it could be beaten.
However, if Southampton loses with another of Jewell's old clubs, Ipswich, they will really start to panic for taking Derby's crown as the worst.
Jewell himself feels a bit guilty about what his heart is telling him. “I wouldn't want that record about my worst enemy,” he admits. 'At the same time it would be good for someone else to have it!'
