Aston Villa have expressed interest in Spanish international right-back Óscar Mingueza.
The 25-year-old, who joined Celta from Barcelona two years ago, can also play as a centre-back.
He has also attracted the attention of RB Leipzig, AC Milan and Roma and has a release clause of around £17m.
Villa, who continue to negotiate a fee for Borussia Dortmund striker Donyell Malen, need cover in defense and Mingueza is one of the options being considered.
Barcelona are understood to have a 50 per cent sell-on clause for Mingueza, who has two Spain caps and can also play at left-back.
The 25-year-old graduated from Barcelona's famous La Masia youth academy, played 66 times and scored two goals for his boyhood club before joining Celta.
Oscar Mingueza has been capped twice by Spain, most recently in a Nations League clash against Switzerland.
Since leaving Barcelona he has become a pillar of Celta Vigo's defense.
