Filmmaker Jeff Brothers – best known as the director of films such as “Life After Beth” and “The Little Hours” and the husband of Aubrey PlazaHe died… TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that police and firefighters responded to a Los Angeles-area home around 10:30 a.m. Friday for a death investigation after a deputy found him dead.
Baena was pronounced dead at the scene…police say he died by suicide.
After graduating from New York University with a film degree, Jeff moved to LA to start his film career, initially holding menial jobs with famous directors such as: Robert Zemeckis And David O Russell.
It was his work with Russell that put him on the map… the two collaborated on four screenplays – including I Heart Huckabees. Dustin Hoffman And Lily Tomlin.
Around this time, Baena began to focus on directing his own films, such as his first feature film, the 2014 horror-comedy Life After Beth, in which he starred John C Reilly, Molly Shannon and Aubrey Plaza.
Baena also directed the 2016 flick “Joshy,” 2017’s “The Little Hours,” and 2020’s “Horse Girl.”
In 2021, Aubrey announced in an Instagram post that she and Jeff had tied the knot after about a decade of dating – as you know, her career began when she starred on the 2009 series “Parks and Rec”… and She also subsequently appeared in projects such as “Emily The Criminal” and “The White Lotus”.
