- The teenager made an impressive debut against India
- It was dropped by batting bateo in Sri Lanka
The former Australian Wicktkeeper Brad Haddin has asked Sam Konstas to be sent home from Sri Lanka if he is not selected for the second test.
Konstas, 19, was retroved as a first game of the first test in Galle despite causing a great impression in his debut matches against India during the Australian summer.
Konstas had an impressive debut season, winning the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award at the Crickt 2025 Australian Australs on Monday.
His intrepid batting style was evident during the Border-Gavavar 2024-25 trophy against India, where he hit the best bowling player in the world Jasprit Bumrah and crashed with the heads with former Captain Virat Kohli.
His outstanding tickets occurred during the boxing day test in the MCG, where he scored 60 65 ball races with a variety of innovative shots, including a boldness against Bumrah, reflecting his confidence and maturity.
Despite its form, Konstas was omitted from the team for the first test against Sri Lanka, causing debate.

The former Wicketkeepper of Australian Test Test Brad Haddin wants to see Sam Konstas return to Australia to play Sheffield Shield
Former players like Ricky Ponting questioned the decision to exclude such promising young talent.
And now the former Australian Wicktkeeper Brad Haddin has asked Cricket Australia to send him home instead of keeping him abroad just to wear drinks.
“We have to remember that he is 19 years old, so if they are not using it for the second test, he would send it home to play the state Crick, he has not played much and the more he plays better,” he said.
“I would have had a good couple of weeks learning, so if you won't need it, send it back home to hit.”
He believes that Konstas will return to the test championship and wants him to return home and play Sheffield Shield to prepare for the great game.
“We have seen how well Travis Head and Uzzie (Khawaja) played at the top of the order, (but) I think he (Konstas) will return directly to the trial championship,” said Haddin.
“He has come out of nowhere in the last six months because he is a high quality player and is still learning the game.” He is just a 19 -year -old boy, the world is in front of him, we will see a very good player for a long time.
The Australian selector Tony Dodemaid praised Konstas for taking his degradation well and understanding the reasons why.
Konstas was abandoned for the two test series against Sri Lanka and Haddin does not see the value in which the Australian drinks bears
“There is much to like and be impressed with Sam,” said Dodemaid.
'One of things is his ability to bring things calmly. It is really remarkable, whether you are playing in front of 90,000 and Jasprit Bumrah in the MCG or tell you that they are left out of the test. '
Australia's substitute captain Steve Smith also sees a great future for the young Swashbuckling batter.
“You will have a lot of practice here if you do not play, which in itself is excellent for development,” said Smith.
“I only have to think in 2013, I believe, where I did not play the first tests (in India) and only the amount of balls I was hitting in the networks and skills I could develop when facing loads of the network bowling players.
“So, whether I play or not, it will be a wonderful experience for him.”
