The Baltimore Ravens were dealt a tough blow ahead of their NFL wild card matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Ravens will go toe-to-toe with their rivals on Saturday in the first round of the NFL playoffs as they look to replicate their run to last season's AFC Championship game and maybe even take it a step further.
But John Harbaugh's team will be without a crucial team member after it was revealed that catcher Zay Flowers' wife has been ruled out.
The 24-year-old suffered a knee injury in Baltimore's Week 18 game against the Browns, and initial reports claimed he had suffered a sprain.
The Ravens were hopeful that Flowers could return in time for this week's game, and head coach John Harbaugh insisted that “this was not a season-ending injury.”
However, their hopes were dashed on Thursday when the star receiver's departure was officially confirmed.
Zay Flowers has been ruled out for the Baltimore Ravens playoff game this weekend.
The 24-year-old suffered a knee injury in Baltimore's Week 18 game against the Browns.
However, it's still unclear if Flowers could return in the divisional round if Baltimore makes it that far.
Flowers was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday after going down during the second quarter against the Browns.
He suffered the injury after catching his foot on a teammate's leg when a Browns defender made contact with his knee.
Flowers was immediately seen clutching his right leg. He limped off the field and did not play again.
Without Flowers, the Ravens beat the Browns 35-10 to win the AFC North and secure third place.
