Bill Maher is angry at people who lecture Angelenos to stop blaming politicians for the devastating fires…he says that's exactly where a lot of the blame lies.
The “Real Time” host delivered a scathing critique of city and state politicians who he believes are partly to blame. Starting from the top, BM mocks the governor Gavin Newsomwho said local officials were trying to figure out why there was no water in many fire hydrants and why 300 fire hydrants were out of service and not repaired. As Bill puts it, maybe they should have all figured this out before LA burned.
And don't get him started on the argument people are making… Do you want your taxes increased? Maher points out that he and others pay the state of Cali 13% of their income, so start reprioritizing spending.
Bill has a lot to say about L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, who cut the fire department's budget in ways that the fire chief said impacted the department's ability to respond.

And when Bill talks about the boss, he wonders if she was chosen because she was the best person for the job or the best lesbian for the job. He raises this issue, also because her own official biography talks about diversity before it gets to the actual firefighting.

Bill has a lot to say about diversity and a lot of people are going to be mad at him. But if you look at everything he says, it's definitely true: we could have done a lot better, and the politicians didn't do their job.
