- Alanna Kennedy leaves Manchester City
- Her Matildas teammate Mary Fowler remains at the club.
- Kennedy will join Angel City of the NWSL in the US.
Australian defender Alanna Kennedy officially parted ways with Manchester City and her great friend Mary Fowler to join the Angel City team in Los Angeles.
The transfer marks the end of Kennedy's three-and-a-half-year spell with the English club, where he made 64 appearances.
The 30-year-old star was a notable omission from the team in the recent Manchester derby.
Kennedy took to social media to say goodbye to the club and express his gratitude for the friendships he had formed during his time there.
“I'm leaving with so many amazing memories,” Kennedy wrote on Instagram.
“I had some career highlights playing for this team and made some lifelong friends. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported me during my time here.

“It has been a privilege to play alongside all of you and I wish you all continued success for the remainder of the season and beyond.”
Manchester City also confirmed the move, thanking the Australian for her efforts and wishing her luck in the United States.
Meanwhile, Fowler has been in fine form for City, scoring two excellent goals in a defeat to city rivals United earlier this month.
He will be on international duty for the Matildas as they take part in the SheBelieves Cup in the US for the first time.
The Tillies face Japan on February 21, followed by the United States three days later and Colombia on the 27th.
Fowler also took to Instagram recently to upload a series of images he titled “2024 recap.”
They included images of her NRL superstar boyfriend Nathan Cleary, as well as a series of promotional photos.
The sporting power couple recently spent time together on Hayman Island before continuing their long-distance relationship when she had to return to England.
The 30-year-old defender (pictured with Fowler before a Matildas match) made 64 appearances for Manchester City.
Fowler (pictured with Kennedy) has been in great form for City over the last few months, finding goals regularly.
Cleary has not yet returned to preseason training with the Panthers as he recovers from shoulder surgery.
“It's about a three or four month recovery, so it's been good so far,” he said.
“I'm slowly checking the boxes and then it will start to pick up… I'm a little ahead of schedule, which is great.”
In October, Fowler and Cleary were seen at Old Trafford watching Wigan Warriors beat Hull KR in the Super League Grand Final.
They were later seen exploring Manchester and several coastal cities in the UK before flying to Mallorca in Spain.
