Herring's lawyer – Clyde Bennett – published an explanation of development on Thursday … said that there were “insufficient evidence to prove that he committed a crime against his wife”, and the “investigation showed that her claim against Mr. Herring was wrong”.
Bennett added that Herring has been released from prison since then and is now looking forward to putting the whole torture behind.
Herring was initially arrested in January after his wife had gone to the police officers to report a suspected incident that took place a few days earlier. In the incident report we received, she claimed that at 2 a.m. Herring was “extremely intoxicating” … and began to harass her for relationship problems.
She claimed that he had attacked her “malignant” by hit her body, pulling her hair, suffocating her.
The woman claimed that at some point in the argument she had difficulty breathing and feared that she would die.
Herring – who retired in 2022 – has not yet publicly addressed the matter.
