British No 1 Jack Draper simply ran out of gas, since he was beaten in three sets by Andrey Rublev in the open Qatar final.
Draper, who is looking for a third title of the ATP race tour, gave Rublev as good as it was for two pulsing sets in Doha.
But it was the Russian world no 10 who had the extra team in the final set to win 7-5, 6-7, 6-1.
“It simply survived me,” Draper admitted, who was playing a third successive setter after Marathon wins about Matteo Berrettini and Jiri Lehacka. 'We have both played some really difficult games this week and he was too strong for me in the third set.
“But I am very proud of my efforts this week, so it is a testimony of my hard work.”
