Josh Altman predicts that at least half of the people who lost their homes in the Pacific Palisades won't rebuild there… but they won't move far away.
We caught up with the celebrity real estate agent on Robertson Blvd in Beverly Hills and our photographer asked him about the sentiment he gets from displaced Angelenos whose homes burned to the ground in the Palisades Fire.
Josh says he realized that 50% of families would never return to the Palisades…and many people were looking for a fresh start in the surrounding areas of Brentwood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Bel Air.
As Josh explains, the Palisades was a quaint American town full of families with children… and he just can't imagine those people moving back a few years later, especially when their children are in new places Schools have settled in.
Josh says he's already negotiating dozens of deals in the Palisades, where his clients are selling their properties to developers who will build new homes for new families.
Rebuilding will take years, but there's another problem with moving back… what happens when you're the first family back on the block and surrounded by construction?
Josh says insurance costs are a whole other issue that makes families hesitant about returning to the Palisades.
He says the tragedy has left some people fed up with LA and California … and he's hearing from people planning to leave the state or move to Newport Beach and Orange County.
