Cesc Fabregas has given Dele Alli a boost as the former England star begins his trial period at Como FC as he bids to resurrect his career.

Alli, 28, has been training with the Serie A club, managed by Spanish legend Fabregas, this week after parting ways with Everton.

The former Tottenham midfielder has not played a competitive match since February 2023 during a loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas and announced his departure from the Toffees last week after making just 13 appearances in almost three years.

But Alli was given a lifeline by Fabregas, who invited him to train with his team in northern Italy and the former Arsenal and Chelsea star has been impressed with what he has seen so far.

“Now he is training with us,” Fabregas said.

'Dele feels good. He is a wonderful player. If we can help you, we will be more than happy. At the moment, he's just training with us…'

Although Fabregas was quick to cool any talk of an imminent deal, the warm words will no doubt encourage Alli, who has played in a Champions League final and a World Cup semi-final.

Last week, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Fábregas was considering signing Alli and wanted to see him up close.

Como FC currently sit just one point clear of the relegation zone in 16th place, with an important clash against 15th-placed Lecce on Monday.

Alli remains confident he can return from the wild and revealed earlier this year that he had been eyeing a place at the 2026 World Cup with England.

Alli previously started for England and played at Euro 2016 and the World Cup in Russia two years later, but has not featured since making his 37th international appearance five years ago.
