Charles Barkley vows to skip NBA All-Star Game in 'rat-infested' San Francisco

One of the NBA's most prominent voices joked that he is not willing to attend the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco this year.

During Thursday night's episode of 'Inside the NBA,' analyst Charles Barkley said he has no intention of setting foot in the city.

As Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham's highlights played, Barkley continued his tirade against the city.

“Listen, he's going to make the All-Star Game,” Barkley said of Cunningham before noting that he won't be attending the main event.

'I'm not going. I'm not going to that rat-infested place in San Francisco.

When co-analyst Kenny 'The Jet' Smith commented that The City By The Bay is 'beautiful,' Barkley immediately backed off.

'San Francisco is not a beautiful city!' Barkley replied. 'Rats. Cats… You guys are not going to make me like San Francisco. No. No, no, no, no.

The All-Star Game will be held at the Chase Center in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood. The stadium opened in 2019 to house the Golden State Warriors.

Barkley has been to San Francisco many times before. Despite his protests, he will likely be there again this year.

But Barkley, who played 16 seasons in the NBA, has been known for his problems with different cities in the past.

In particular, Barkley has criticized the city of San Antonio for years on 'Inside,' repeatedly making jokes about the city's women, to the point that it has become a running joke on the broadcast.

Last year, he got into trouble again for mocking another Texas city, Galveston, saying the coastal city had “dirty water.”
