A Chipotle customer hit an employee in the face with a burrito bowl after she didn't receive a refund for her Uber Eats order — and the food fight was partially caught on video!
Check it out… The footage begins with the dissatisfied customer behind the counter of a Chipotle restaurant in Washington DC, preparing her own food as the stunned staff surround her.
At first, some of the workers try to stop her from taking the food herself… but their efforts fail.
The woman continues to serve herself until a tired employee comes in, grabs the bowl and tries to take it away… but the customer slams the bowl into the employee's face, sending the food flying everywhere.
The employee, Roberto Hernándezwas later interviewed by WUSA9 News … and he said the customer stormed into the restaurant last week demanding a refund after claiming Uber Eats delivered the wrong order.
Hernandez said he tried to reason with her by explaining that she needed to get a refund for her burrito bowl from Uber Eats and not directly from the restaurant … but the customer didn't listen, according to Hernandez.
He says she then went behind the counter to make her own burrito bowl, which led to a confrontation with the workers. Hernandez says he was traumatized by the incident … while the woman told the news organization she was “right to a certain extent” – adding: “I'm not saying what I did was right “But I don't say what.” What I did was wrong.
Chipotle also issued a statement to WUSA9 saying the company is cooperating with local law enforcement and hopes justice is served in this case.
TMZ obtained a copy of the police report filed by Hernandez… According to the report, the incident occurred on December 21st when police responded to a call for an attack at Chipotle.
Hernandez told police the customer threw the burrito bowl at him after he tried to grab it and then left the store with a second bowl full of food.
The report lists two felonies: simple assault and theft, relating to the two burrito bowls, worth a total of $40. Police are still investigating and have not yet arrested the argumentative customer.
