Philippe Clement admits he has no problem with Rangers chairman Fraser Thornton's scathing assessment of his team's away form.
Addressing a hospitality room before Wednesday's game against Aberdeen, Thornton minced no words in summarizing the fact that the team had only won three of 11 Premiership games all season.
In a video leaked on social media, the president told the audience: “I have to say that at home (the form) has been good, but away it is horrible.”
When asked about the comments at his usual Friday press conference, Clement reiterated that he was also deeply unhappy with the results away from Ibrox, which all but ended Rangers' title challenge.
“You have to keep in mind that my English is not my mother tongue,” said the Belgian. 'So “horrible” compared to other words, maybe I don't draw the right conclusions about it.
“I have also said it for weeks and months: I am not at all happy with our results away from home. Clearly, I am not happy with that. Nobody at the club is. Not the players, not the staff, not the board members board, nor the fans.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement admits he is not happy with his team's away form
Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart (left) and chairman Fraser Thornton are recent appointments.
'The form at home, everyone is very happy because it is a very good record. We need to get better results away from home. We are all aware of it.
Asked if poor away form had been part of the conversations he had had with Thornton and chief executive Patrick Stewart, Clement added: “Of course, we talked about a lot of things.” Also about the reasons. It could be that the results away from home were not the same as the results at home. And how to change that.'
Last week, Stewart said there could be up to two additions to Clement's squad if the right players became available.
But the coach believes that will only happen if he can first advance the fringe players.
“It is something that will be necessary for the club, yes. That is a decision for the club,” he stated.
Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell top the list of players Rangers would like to part with this month.
“I never talk about individual cases or names that way,” Clement said.
“It's always the same in the transfer window. It's about the right price for each player. It has to be beneficial for everyone.”
Clement confirmed that none of the players who missed the midweek win over Aberdeen will be available for Sunday's Scottish Cup match against Fraserburgh.
While Danilo joined the injured list after limping off on Wednesday, Robin Propper could still play against the Highland League side despite also coming off.
