Now that half of the Premier League clubs are owned by Americans, one would expect some sort of understanding of the English game.
After all, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have brought a huge slice of Hollywood glamor to Wrexham.
However, football fans tuning into Amazon Prime Video's coverage of Arsenal v Ipswich on Friday night were treated to one of the worst examples of misdirection from two members of American showbiz royalty.
John Legend, the famous singer known for his hit All of Me, and his wife Chrissy Teigen were involved in an excruciating live interview on the streaming platform, in which Teigen confused Ipswich with Chelsea and claimed that she was “rooting for the underdogs “.
Teigen, who made the trip to the Emirates with Legend and their children for her “first Premier League game”, had been posting on her social media all day wearing a Chelsea shirt, albeit covered by an Ipswich scarf.
After Arsenal's narrow victory, thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz, the couple was invited to the pitch to reflect on the match.

Teigen confused Ipswich with Chelsea and claimed she was 'rooting for the underdogs'
Teigen shared a photo of herself in a soccer uniform and added, “Does this look like the face of someone who doesn't know soccer?”
Legend was honest enough to admit: “I don't know the league very well and my friends were saying, well, Arsenal are going to win by six goals.” “But it was a closer game than we expected.”
But the interview took a turn for the worse when Teigen was asked why she supports Chelsea. “Listen, I love underdogs,” he said. “I love coming and being surprised at how much a team can do and it was great fun for us to support them because everyone was on Arsenal's side.”
Legend quickly corrected her by saying, “I was rooting for Ipswich today,” but Teigen persisted, adding, “When you said Chelsea, I was like, Chelsea is Ipswich?” I don't know.'
Legend summed up the confusion when he said: “You were wearing a Chelsea scarf today.” It was very confusing. Basically the same colors. We have no idea.
The awkward exchange sparked criticism on social media, with one user posting: “I think @primevideosport's coverage has been really good tonight but what was the point of talking to John Legend and his family?” “I didn't even know what team I was looking at.”
Teigen later defended her football knowledge on Instagram, saying: 'Do you know who the biggest bullies and t***s are? People who don't like football as much as I do.
