Conor Benn suggests that Chris Eubank Jr's father will only be in his corner if he is paid for his bitter confrontation

Conor Benn pointed to a mockery towards Chris Eubank JR before his long -awaited confrontation in April, suggesting that the latter's father will only be in his corner if he is paid.

Bitter rivals will finally resolve their dispute on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, two and a half years after they were originally scheduled to fight, after the two tests of failed voluntary drugs of Benn.

The honor of pride and the family will be at stake given the parents of the duo, Chris Eubank SR and Nigel Benn, shared a famous rivalry in the 1990s.

Both parents will attend the fight, adding more intrigue to the contest. Benn and his father have a strong link, with the former world champion of two divisions maintaining an unwavering level of support throughout his son's career.

You cannot say the same of the Eubanks, whose relationship has experienced tensions over time, particularly when Eubank Jr sought more independence in their professional decisions.

And Benn pointed to both of social networks, referring to reports that Eubank SR sought financial compensation for his role in the administration of his son's career.

The undefeated welter weight wrote in X: “My father does not need to pay to be in my corner”, followed by heart and crown emojis.

For years, Eubank SR, the former world champion of two pesos and father of four children, was a central figure in his son's career: a constant presence in the gym, in the ring, and in the press conferences.

However, Eubank SR has not appeared in the corner of his son since 2019 and caused controversy to agree with those who called his son a 'charlatan' after his defeat by knockout by Liam Smith in 2023.

Last November, Eubank JR made an emotional supplication to his father, asking him to return to his corner before his fight with Benn.

He explained that his father struggles to separate his relationship as a father and son, and the commercial side of boxing.

Eubank Jr told ifl TV: 'He (Eubank SR) not being part of my boxing career was not fine.

'For as many years as they know, he was always right by my side or was in front of me. That was what it was. That was just part of his thing.

'Then, you take that away, what I did and that I had to do, and I suppose I couldn't accept it. He could not handle it. Or I didn't want to accept it. So, that affected our relationship on a personal level. At the father and son level. That should not.

However, Eubank SR has not appeared at the corner of his son since 2019 and was news to agree with those who called the 'charlatan' 34 years after his defeat by Liam Smith

'This is a business. This is a career. It should not affect the relationship of father and son. But, he does not know how to do it and cannot separate the two.

'So I feel that it will lead me to retire and get away from sport so that he connects mentally with me again.

“Once Conor Benn's fight is made, I will send another text message and tell him:” I love you by my side. I love you by my side dad. This is history. This will be the greatest fight in the United Kingdom, possibly always.

Despite Eubank Jr's efforts to get there, communication with his father remains minimal, often receiving responses from a word or no answer.

He has revealed on multiple occasions that the two “do not speak.”
