Wrexham footballer James McClean suffered cuts and bruises after crashing his Audi on Wednesday morning.
The Irishman left the road near Wrexham Golf Club and was quickly spotted by police with witnesses reporting significant damage to the footballer's black Audi.
Fog and ice presented dangerous conditions in north Wales and a source close to the scene described “a lot of tire marks” on the roundabout heading into Wrexham.
“Wrexham AFC can confirm that a first-team player suffered a car accident this morning on his way to training,” read a club statement.
'This was a single car accident with no other vehicles involved and the relevant local authorities were quickly called to the scene.
“The player reported to the Club this morning and will undergo further medical checks as a precautionary measure.”

It comes in a week in which McClean has been in the headlines after calling the English town of Shrewsbury a “cesspool full of inbreds”.
North Wales Police confirmed the 35-year-old man had not suffered serious injuries. He will have to undergo further tests with Wrexham medical staff at the club.
Their statement read: 'Shortly before 9am this morning (Wednesday 22 January), we received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A534 in Wrexham, near Wrexham Golf Club.
The incident was attended by officers and colleagues from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, who blocked the road until the vehicle was recovered shortly before 10am.
“No serious injuries were reported at the scene.”
