Corbetts Cross has died, eight years old, after suffering a strong fall during the persecution of the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival on Friday afternoon.
The racing horse, mounted by the Irish rider Jack Kennedy, suffered fatal injuries towards the end of the fifth race of the day.
Corbetts Cross was in the persecution package that was heading to the final stages, but fell while jumped on a fence.
He was quickly attended by veterinary professionals, since he lay injured on the ground, before being taken in an ambulance of horses.
An official statement by Cheltenham said: 'In our fifth career of the day, our veterinary professionals immediately attended CROSS Corbetts, but unfortunately they suffered a fatal injury. Our most sincere condolences are with their connections.
Itv Racing presenter Ed Chamberlin also shared his condolences while breaking the live news in the air.

Corbetts Cross becomes the horse 78 to suffer a fatal injury in the persecution of the Cheltenham Gold Cup since 2000, and the second in this year's festival.
On Thursday, Bay Gelding, eight years old, Springwell Bay also died after suffering a fall in the limited handicap of Jack Richards Novices.
