After making the decision to move on from head coach Mike McCarthy, the Dallas Cowboys are asking to interview a rising star in the coaching world currently working for a hated division rival.
Dallas has officially requested an interview with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
Moore is considered one of the top coordinator coaching prospects on the market and has already scheduled interviews for vacancies with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints.
Despite his current position with the division rival Eagles, Moore knows the Cowboys well after years of playing and coaching in Dallas.
Moore was a backup quarterback for the Cowboys for three seasons before moving into the coaching ranks.
He began his coaching career in Dallas, first as the team's quarterbacks coach and then as offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022. Moore left Dallas after mutually agreeing to part ways with the team.

Moore has previous experience with the Cowboys system and is known to owner Jerry Jones.
Jones also reportedly talked to University of Colorado coach Deion Sanders about the job.
From there, he joined the Los Angeles Chargers staff before moving to Philadelphia.
For some Cowboys fans, this reflects the same process as another former Dallas head coach, Jason Garrett. Garrett spent a good portion of his playing career in Dallas from 1992 to 1999.
After retiring in 2004, Garrett spent two years as a quarterbacks coach in Miami before jumping to Dallas in 2007 and staying there in multiple roles for 12 years. Notably, he was the head coach of the Cowboys from 2011 to 2019.
Moore was the offensive coordinator under McCarthy for several seasons in which his offenses ranked in the league's top ten in four of his five seasons with the Cowboys.
The only exception came in the 2020 season, when starting QB Dak Prescott only played in five games.
Some believe he could be the ideal candidate for owner Jerry Jones, considering he has known Moore very well over the years.
The interview with Moore comes after Dallas was linked to University of Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders, another former Cowboys player.
Jones and Sanders have reportedly spoken about the vacancy and some reports have pointed to 'Coach Prime' as the leading candidate for the position.
Moore previously coached the Cowboys from 2018 to 2022 after playing for them.
Moore was a standout at Boise State, but was primarily a backup in both Detroit and Dallas.

During his time as a starter, Moore was widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in college football. In his redshirt sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, Moore finished in the top ten in Heisman voting (seventh, fourth, and eighth respectively).
Despite this, he was not drafted in the 2012 NFL Draft as scouts doubted multiple characteristics of his arsenal.
He signed with the Lions after the draft and stayed there for three seasons before being signed by the Cowboys in 2015.
Moore remained with Dallas until 2017 and retired from the NFL in 2018. He was the last left-handed quarterback to play in the league until the arrival of Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa in 2020.
Moore's all-time NFL stat is three games played and two started, with a record of 0-2. He completed 61 of 104 passes for 779 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions.
