The offensive coordinator has been chosen by the owner Jerry Jones as the man to replace Mike McCarthy. It will be his first job as a chief coach in the NFL.

Schottenheimer, 51, son of the late NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer, joined Dallas's staff as a consultant in 2022 and held the title of offensive coordinator the last two seasons, while McCarthy was the one who directed the plays.

Schottenheimer will be officially presented as coach in the cowboys on Monday.
