Dave Portnoy shared a remarkable story from a listener of his podcast, who revealed that the show saved his life.
Portnoy, the brains behind Barstool Sports, hosted the 'BFFs' podcast alongside Brianna 'Chickenfry' LaPaglia and Josh Richards, but made his final appearance earlier this month.
However, Portnoy's last episode on December 18 turned out to save one listener's life.
He posted a screenshot of a fan message on social media, which detailed a heartbreaking story of how listening to the episode kept him from possibly dying.
It said, 'Hey, you saved my life last weekend. I got stuck listening to my best friends and watching your TikToks, which delayed me from going to the store.
'I went into cardiac arrest literally 1 minute after watching your video and had a defibrillator implanted which saved my life, but if I wasn't watching you I would have left the house and all of this would have happened while I was driving. .

On Thursday, Portnoy shared a message from a fan who revealed that the podcast saved his life.
“So overall, you're a lifesaver and the group of best friends saved my life too.”
Portnoy's last appearance on the 'BFFs' podcast was posted on December 18 after he announced earlier this year that he would be retiring from the show at the end of 2024.
But the final show received more scrutiny when Portnoy addressed a dispute between LaPaglia and another Barstool host, Grace O'Malley, that saw her leave the company.
As part of her social media post, Portnoy criticized the favoritism towards LaPaglia and now she herself has mocked the claims while discussing her latest show via Instagram.
“I know everyone thinks Dave and I are secret lovers, but seriously, the last four years of friendship have been the highlight of my time at Barstool,” she wrote.
“It's sad to see him go, but I'm so excited for what Josh and I have in store for our best friends.”
Last week, Portnoy, 47, criticized claims that he was in love with LaPaglia, 25, while addressing O'Malley leaving Barstool.
“Emergency walk and talk: Everyone knows Grace quit,” the 47-year-old said in a video posted to the BFFs X account. “I still get DMs from people saying, ‘Dave, you fired her. “You're a bastard who takes sides.”
Co-host Brianna LaPaglia recently mocked claims that she is in a secret relationship with Portnoy.
LaPaglia paid tribute to Portnoy as he stepped away from his Barstool 'BFFs' podcast
'People are fucking crazy. People post pictures of my ex-wife (Renee Portnoy) online and say, 'Oh, she looks like Bri, so Dave has a crush on her.' “It's fucking crazy.”
Portnoy, who has been supporting LaPaglia during her breakup with country singer Bryan, said in November that she was stepping away from the show, saying, “The topics don't interest me at all.”
'They show me the topics when I go in there, I haven't done any research and I'm just trashing 18-year-olds, who I don't even know. I don't necessarily love doing that.
'It certainly achieved what I wanted to achieve when we started it. Josh and Bri will continue it. It's a big success, but yeah, it's time for you to try the next thing. I had moved on with it.
She added on a BFFs show in November: “Just because I'm getting older, like I'm close to 50, talking about teen drama, a little out of my wheelhouse.”
