David Beckham's appearance has come unusually under the microscope after viewers claimed the football legend featured on the Today Show had a “swollen” face.
Beckham, 49, was a special guest on Wednesday's edition of NBC's daily show as he discussed a wide range of topics; including the devastating Los Angeles wildfires and his Emmy win for the hit Netflix documentary series about his life and career.
However, his latest television appearance has left fans stunned, with many accusing the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star of having a slightly swollen face.
Beckham's 'bloated' appearance was brutally analyzed on Spanish TV show 'La Sexta' after presenter Alfonso Arus said he looked 'a little more bloated' than usual.
Panel members alleged it could be due to a cosmetic procedure, although there has been no confirmation lately that Beckham has undergone plastic surgery.
'It is true that sometimes when you undergo some type of cosmetic touch-up the swelling has to go down,' said collaborator Tatiana Arus.

However, commentator Patricia Benítez's assessment was even more blunt: “It is in decline, horrible,” said Benítez.
Beckham, who has enjoyed a long and successful modeling career dating back to his early years as a soccer player, also seemed to have “trouble laughing” during the show, Angie Cárdenas added in La Sexta.
“It's true that he seems to have a hard time laughing because he can't move his facial muscles,” she said.
“It looks a little strange… Maybe the lighting on the set isn't the best.”
Beckham transcended football during his legendary career after bursting onto the fashion and modeling scene alongside his pop star ex-wife, Victoria.
Since retiring from the game, the former England captain has ventured into ownership as co-founder of MLS team Inter Miami.
Towards the end of his playing days he also enjoyed a stint in Los Angeles, where his son Brooklyn, 25, still resides with his wife Nicola Peltz.
The English football legend has enjoyed a long and successful modeling career outside of the sport.
But after his appearance on Today, viewers are speculating that Beckham has undergone cosmetic surgery.
David confirmed that Brooklyn was safe today following the deadly wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes and killed 25 in the Los Angeles area over the past week.
But he added: “It's devastating, we have a big heart that's still in Los Angeles and obviously to see everything that's happening there, we just send our love and thoughts to everyone affected by what's happening.”
“I've always said that America is the land of opportunity, and Los Angeles has incredible opportunities and the spirit that they have there, they will come back stronger, but it will take time.”
