The former Manchester United goalkeeper, David Gaskell, died at the age of 84, confirmed his family.
The cause of his death has not been specified, but it is believed that it was as a result of an ongoing disease.
Having started his youth career with the Red Devils, Gaskell became the youngest debutante in the club on October 24, 1956, with only 16 years and 19 days.
He appeared in the 1956 Fa Charity Shield final against Man City instead of the injured goalkeeper Ray Wood, and helped United win 1-0 against his rivals.
On Friday night, Gaskell's family launched a moving statement, pointing to its admirable character inside and outside the football field.
He said: 'Dave was dedicated to his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud father of his three daughters, Michelle, Lesley and Nicola, and a loving grandfather from Joel, Emily, Eleanor, Ted and Edith. His family was his greatest joy, and his legacy will live through them.

United wrote an obituary on the night of the death of Gaskell, praising his iconic career in the club.
The opening statement said: “Manchester United is sad to find out about the death of our former goalkeeper David Gaskell, a figure with a special place in the history of the club.”
In addition, United issued an official statement on social networks that said: 'We are deeply sad for the death of David Gaskell, our younger debutant and former goalkeeper. We extend our condolences to your family and friends.
Between 1956 and 1968, Gaskell made 96 appearances for United, and played under the iconic Sir Matt Busby during his time in Manchester.
Gaskell won four trophies in the club: the First Division in 1964–65 and 1966–67, the FA Cup in 1962–63 and the FA Charity Shield in 1956.
