A Canadian boy died in a resort in Jamaica, the authorities confirmed.

Global Affairs Canada says he is aware of the death of a Canadian citizen in Jamaica, and is providing consular assistance to the family.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with people's loved ones,” the agency said in a statement.

“Due to privacy considerations, no more information can be disseminated,” added Global Affairs.

According to a complex spokesman, the incident occurred on February 3 at the Aquarelle of the Riu Palace in Trelawny, Jamaica, involving a child.

The complex expressed their condolences and said they are cooperating with the authorities.

“With a deep sadness and shock, we would like to express our most sincere condolences to the family and the loved ones of the deceased child,” said the resort spokesman.
