Britney Spears will play a hands-on role in the creation of the biopic based on her bestselling memoir The Woman In Me…Director John M. Chu has revealed.
The filmmaker, who recently broke box office records with his musical film “Wicked,” released the update at the 2025 Golden Globes … where he confirmed that production on the Brit-focused film is still in its early stages – and assured fans that he has one Vision of how he wants to do things.
As Jon told Entertainment Tonight, Britney intends to be “very involved” in the film.
He added… “I haven't really started anything yet but she's going to be very involved. I have ideas and things, an approach, but it’s still very early.”
In fact, it's still early days for Jon that he's still figuring out how to cast the lead… that is, whether they'll give the role to an experienced actress or a newcomer.
Jon made it clear that he's considering all options… and confessed that he's even caught wind of the many casting suggestions from fans online.
He continued… “I always take that into account because there might be a good idea out there. But we have to see what the approach of the film is before we know who is right for it.”
Several names have emerged since it was announced in August that Britney's book would be adapted into a major motion picture. In fact, it was Brit's former personal assistant and long-time confidante in the summer Felicia Culotta said TMZ…she wanted to Emma Roberts To Slip into Britney's dancing shoes.
Emma co-signed the idea after the pitch gained traction online… and called it a “true dream” to one day play the role of Britney.
Maybe she will be “lucky” enough to make it all come true. Stay tuned!!!
