Donald Trump calls on the Supreme Court to suspend the upcoming TikTok ban.
A new law is set to take effect on January 19 – a day before Trump begins his second presidency – and would require TikTok to be sold or shut down by its Chinese parent company.
Trump's lawyer, John Sauerfiled a brief statement Friday in which DJT called on SCOTUS to delay the pending change…at least until Trump is in office.
In the documents, Trump says he wants “the opportunity to pursue a political resolution of the issues at issue in the case.”
Trump says he's a consummate dealmaker with the expertise needed to solve the problem… and he says he has “the electoral mandate and political will to negotiate a solution to save the platform while addressing national security concerns.” “

Of course, Trump is big on social media use — he used to be very active on Twitter before launching his own Truth Social platform — and has nearly 15 million followers on TikTok. The letter said Trump was “one of the most powerful, prolific and influential users of social media in history.”
In separate briefs filed Friday, the government defended the new law … citing concerns that the Chinese government could influence the company and create a national security risk.
Of course, TikTok is against the ban… the platform says a ban would violate the First Amendment.
It will be interesting to see what SCOTUS does here.
