“No one really experienced me to be weak,” Wade said on Tuesday in the program, through People. 'I have always been the strong, the safest, the world champion who has raised the trophies on his head. That is the image, but this was a time when I knew it was going to be uncertain and a little weak. ''

Wade, whose father and grandfather have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, said he felt a “pain that he had never felt” after emerging from surgery.

He also opened about the disconcerting process to meet with doctors before knowing that he had cancer.

Wade said that a different doctor visit also left him “scared” when he told the basketball star that he did not want what was in his kidney, who was not yet determined to be cancer, to spread.
