Erik Ten Hag planned to be the Manchester United manager for the next 10 years, before his dismissal last year, according to former coach of the first team Benni McCarthy.
The Dutchman was relieved of his duties in October, since United languished the 13th place at the Premier League table.
The decision ended its two -year spell in Old Trafford, during which it led the club to success in the FA and EFL glasses.
McCarthy, 47, who was appointed as Kenya's new chief coach this week, worked less than ten hag for two years, but started in June 2024 before this season began.
McCarthy explained that he is grateful for the time that less than ten hag spent, welcoming the former United manager as “dedicated” and “passionate”, since he revealed that the former Ajax chief planned to stay in Old Trafford during the next decade.
“They gave me an incredible opportunity to work with one of the largest and greatest clubs in the world under the guidance of Erik Ten Hag,” McCarthy told BBC Sport Africa.

McCarthy, the top scorer of all time in South Africa, issued a verdict full of glass in his two -year spell in United with ten hag.
Although United registered his worst end in the history of the Premier League in 2023-24, McCarthy insisted that he was proud to be part of the training configuration to bring to the Red Devils the first cut-off pieces since 2017.
He added: 'Everyone is talking about how bad the terrible Manchester United is. We still managed to win the FA Cup, we still managed to win the Carabao Cup. I was proud to be part of that regime.
Although he maintains warm memories of his time in United, McCarthy confessed that he has no explanation of why many renowned coaches have not been able to avoid the descending spiral of the club since Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
“Honest with God, I don't know what the problem is,” admitted the former Ajax striker.
“It's such a big football club and problems seem to continue and continue, and I don't know how they will solve it.”
