Erling Haaland has expressed his happiness after signing a stunning new nine-and-a-half-year contract to stay at Manchester City until 2034.
Haaland, 24, wrote the blockbuster. contract extension on Friday morning, which removes all previous buyout clauses in the star's deal.
Haaland's new contract is reportedly one of the most lucrative sports contracts of all time.
The Norwegian striker would be 34 years old when his new contract expires and it comes after his current contract expired in the summer of 2027.
And, speaking after the news became public, Haaland said: 'I'm super happy. I'm proud. It's hard to put it into words because it's a great moment.
'I'm happy and those are the right words to use. I am super proud and happy and I really want to stay here for a long time.
Erling Haaland has expressed his happiness after signing a surprising new contract with Manchester City.
'In the end, speaking to the people I spoke to, the hunger and the support I've been getting over the last few years from the board, the bosses and Pep, it was an easy decision. I'm delighted.'
Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances for Man City in all competitions since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
The 24-year-old was earning a basic salary of £400,000 each week on his current contract.
Mail Sport understands that while Haaland receives a basic salary that is in line with other higher-earning workers at the Etihad Stadium, a series of substantial, almost guaranteed bonuses have seen his weekly salary exceed £850,000.
The Norwegian was part of a crucial part of City's treble-winning season in 2022-23, while they added the FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield last season, with the striker missing through injury for City's success in the Club World Cup in December 2023.
And, reflecting on his two-and-a-half years at City so far, Haaland added: “It's been very fast.” It feels like I signed a moment ago. It's gone very fast and that's a good thing.
'It means I'm enjoying it. During two and a half years as a City player I have won many trophies, I have played very good football and I have had great moments with the entire club and the fans.
“I still remember the parade in the rain (after the treble), which was perhaps the best and most important moment because it was a typical Manchester parade.
'It has been incredible and it has been like a dream in these two and a half years. “As I said, I'm looking forward to what's next and the future.”
Haaland has claimed the Premier League Golden Boot in consecutive seasons and was named top-flight Player of the Season for the 2022-23 campaign, although he is currently languishing two goals behind Mohamed Salah this time in the scoring charts.
The news of the extension will also give City a huge boost amid a difficult season for the reigning Premier League champions, who are currently sixth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.
Although Haaland has struggled for form in recent months after a spectacular start to the campaign, he has still scored 16 goals in 21 top-flight appearances.
Haaland has previously been linked with reigning European champions Real Madrid, with repeated reports in Spain that release clauses had offered hope a deal could be agreed at some point in the future.
Indeed, Mail Sport understands that his career plan involved a move to La Liga, with Real's long-standing admirers, and Haaland is understood to have reiterated that idea to friends over the past two years.
But a new contract covering 10 seasons, potentially taking him to the age of 34, is a significant change of direction and a sign of intent, and the 24-year-old has expressed his desire to create a legacy with City.
“Yes, I'm staying a long time,” said Haaland, who recently bought a new property in Cheshire after becoming a father for the first time with his girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen.
'Now I can fully concentrate on improving because I am going to stay here for a long time. Full focus on performing and improving to give all the fans what they want.
'(City) is a really welcoming club where they take great care of you. I think that's also very important when you talk to people. Here you really feel at home and that's the first thing that surprises you.”
Haaland's deal, which was accompanied by fun videos on both his and City's social media channels, will commit the forward beyond Guardiola's time at the club, with the Spaniard signing a two-year contract extension in November .
Guardiola, a six-time Premier League winner, was initially expected to resign at the end of this season, before committing to the club until 2027.
Guardiola's reign at Manchester City would last more than a decade as a result of his contract extension and Haaland paid tribute to the Spaniard.
“When I spoke to Pep, the best coach in the world, it was also fantastic to talk to him and train and play with him every day.
“To get their opinion on me and how I can become a better footballer and develop further.” He is the best.
“Of course, you are here to win trophies, here to perform, here to give your best and give your best.” “That's what you have to do here because you come here, people expect you to win trophies and that's why you're here.”
Haaland continued: 'I've improved a lot (with him). It is very pleasant to work with him. Not only because he is the best, but he is also the hardest working person I have ever seen in my life.
'People think it's just because of this or that, but the amount of hours he puts in is also motivating and inspiring to see.
'It's fun to work with him, he's tough and it's hard because he demands a lot, but that's what I want. I want people to demand a lot from me and put pressure on me. So far, so good.'
