The FA Cup third round match between Everton and Peterborough will be played tonight after concerns were raised about the match being postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
Snow and ice in the Merseyside area led Everton to schedule a safety meeting at 1:00 pm to determine if the match could continue.
This has now been concluded and the match has been given the green light.
The Toffees confirmed the good news in a statement which read: “The FA Cup third round match between Everton and Peterborough United will go ahead as planned this afternoon (kick-off 7.45pm).
“A safety meeting was held this afternoon to assess the weather and travel conditions for fans attending the tie, confirming that the match can go ahead.
'Everton staff and a team from Liverpool City Council's Streetscene Services team have been treating the roads and footpaths around the stadium since the morning to ensure they are as safe as possible for fans accessing the stadium.
The FA Cup third round starts tonight and Everton will take on Peterborough.
The game was given the green light after snow and ice threatened to postpone it.
Sean Dyche hopes his team can win again after a poor run of results.
“Anyone attending Goodison Park is advised to prepare for cold conditions, take care and take any extra time that may be necessary to travel to the game, including being aware of any weather advice and warnings that may be in place in areas to which fans travel.'
This will be a relief for Everton as they already have a game to reschedule earlier this season.
Their Merseyside derby against Liverpool was postponed in early December when Storm Darragh hit the area.
A new date has not yet been given for that meeting.
