Aaron Shattock remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being placed in an induced coma following an accident on his property on Sunday.
The former Brisbane Lions star had to fight for his life after he was crushed by a bulldozer.
7News claimed the 44-year-old father-of-three was “driving the excavator” before it overturned and Shattock became trapped under the machinery. Emergency services used a hydraulic rescue tool to free him from the excavator before Shattock was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
His family broke their silence on the incident and issued a statement on Christmas Day through the Labrador Football Club to inform fans of Shattock's condition.
“The Shattock family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the overwhelming support, love and kindness shown to Aaron during this incredibly difficult time,” the family's statement read.
'Your compassion has given him, and our entire family, the strength and hope to keep fighting.
