Leny Yoro was criticized on social media for Manchester United's difficult performance against Southampton.
The Red Devils defender has had an up-and-down start to his career at Old Trafford after joining for £52million from Lille in the summer, having initially missed several months through injury.
He has played 10 times since then but has been in and out of the team as Ruben Amorim tries to decide on his best XI after replacing Erik ten Hag at the end of last year.
On Wednesday night, he played on the right side of a back three but struggled against Saints players on the outside, with Amad Diallo regularly advancing from the right wing alongside him.
Manuel Ugarte scored the first goal of the game while trying to defend a corner, and United struggled to defeat their opponents, who are bottom of the Premier League, until Diallo's late hat-trick.
And fans were quick to take to social media to express their frustration at the defender's efforts at Old Trafford.

“Leny Yoro is having a nightmare,” posted a United fan on X, formerly Twitter.
Another added: “Leny Yoro is making Walker Peters look like the best Hazard.”
In fact, it was Kyle Walker-Peters at left back and Kamaldeen Sulemana on the left side of attack who caused the 19-year-old problems.
He had started on the right of Amorim's three defenders, with Harry Maguire only fit enough for the bench. Matthijs De Ligt played central, with Lisandro Martínez on the left.
On TNT Sports commentary, Ally McCoist said of the defender: “Tonight he's going to get ripped to shreds, the poor guy.”
“He doesn't have a right-back to help him and, to be brutally frank, De Ligt doesn't help him either and he doesn't have anyone in front of him.”
Meanwhile, Amorim praised his man in the build-up to Wednesday's match, saying: “Leny Yoro will surely be the future of this club.” He is a great talent. And I think he's ready to play.”
The Frenchman was hooked by Harry Maguire a few minutes before the end.
Rival fans also criticized the performance, with United coming back from 1-0 down to win 3-1.
Yoro has already played 10 games for United after missing several months due to injury.
Fans of rival teams also took turns criticizing Yoro, with one of them writing on X: 'Leny Yoro……. He's going to have nightmares for days after this beating from Kamaldeen Sulemana.
A second wrote: “I can see why Yoro is France's 29th centre-back.”
A third, for his part, added: 'This stinking Yoro is going to the HOF (Hall of Fame).'
