Mixed martial arts is known for its many dangers, but one unfortunate fighter has received the nastiest of injuries during jiu-jitsu training.
Brazilian star Mateus Mendonca is a teammate of former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, who took his impressive record in the sport to 35-10-0 with a decision victory over American Michael Chandler last month.
The 25-year-old looked unstoppable when he first entered the octagon, beating Pedro Nobre in 2020 and Ashiek Ajim in 2022 to get off to the perfect start.
But after three sobering defeats in a row, in the bantamweight and flyweight categories, 'Bocao' was released from his contract with the company.
She recently bounced back from that disappointment with a knee victory over Luan Matheus in 20 seconds, raising her MMA record to 11-3.
However, Mendonca has now received something of a setback after fracturing his penis midway through a training session in Maranhao, Brazil. MMA fighting information.

The serious injury means the fighter will not be able to train for another two months, having decided to go to hospital only once a month.
He said: “I was training with (a teammate), and he landed his knee on my penis, I felt absurd pain and went to the bathroom.
“I was in Sao Paulo the other day and mine looked strange, it looked different, it has a lump.
“My girl told me to go to the hospital, they gave me an ultrasound examination and told me to go to another hospital immediately for emergency surgery.”
The doctors told him the bad news and now Mendonca will have to find alternative ways to make some money while trying to return to the UFC.
“The doctor told me to avoid training and teaching for two months,” he said. “I have to stay home and do nothing.
'I can't teach or train, so I'm raffling it off to have some money. I have a young daughter and I brought my family to Sao Paulo to start training.'
