Fulham have rejected a £16m bid from Palmeiras for midfielder Andrés Pereira.

The 29-year-old has 18 months left on his contract and is open to discussing new terms, but Fulham are yet to begin negotiations.

Pereira, who joined Fulham from Manchester United for an initial fee of £10m in July 2022, has made 17 appearances for the west London club this season.

The Brazilian, who has been capped nine times for his country, was ruled out by Fulham manager Marco Silva for the draw with Tottenham in December after he was quoted as saying he wanted to join Marseille.

Pereira criticized the “malicious” article and has since returned to the first team.

He said: 'I would like to address the recently published article about me.

'Unfortunately, the article contains statements attributed to me that I did not make, and the English translation was done maliciously and inaccurately, completely distorting my words.

“In the interview I clearly expressed my happiness and satisfaction at being at Fulham and my gratitude for everything the club and the squad have done for me, highlighting at all times that I still have two years left on my contract and that I am fully focused on the club.

Pereira rose through the ranks of Man United's academy after arriving from PSV Eindhoven as a highly-rated youth prospect.

He was on loan to Granada, Valencia, Lazio and Flamengo during his time at Old Trafford before leaving permanently in 2022.

Fulham host Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Palmeiras lost the league title to Botafogo in the 2024 league campaign.
