A charter jet carrying the Gonzaga men's basketball team was just feet away from being destroyed by an outbound plane over the weekend … and the near-miss was captured in its entirety on video.
Check out the footage from LAX around 4:30 p.m. Friday… You can see the Bulldogs' Embraer E135 plane taxiing to its gate after landing in Los Angeles, a Delta plane taking off from a nearby runway and that two planes came so close to each other that an air traffic controller actually had to tell the Zags' pilot to stop.
Luckily, the two stayed out of each other's way… but the FAA said so in a statement anyway TMZ Sports The situation will be investigated on Monday.
As for Gonzaga — which finally made it safely to Saturday night's game against UCLA in L.A. — school officials told us Monday they are also looking into the matter.
“Our team members aboard the aircraft were unaware of the situation when it occurred,” the university said, “and we are grateful that the incident ended safely for everyone.”
The Zags ended up losing 65-62 to the Bruins…but luckily maybe they won't have to board another plane for a while since they're scheduled to play Pepperdine in Malibu on Monday night.
