CA Governor. Gavin Newsom tried to use President Biden as a shield when he was confronted by a distraught wildfire victim on Thursday – but his efforts somehow blew up in his face.
The woman, a lawyer named Rachel Darvishran up to Newsom as he got into his car – he was leaving a destroyed Pacific Palisades – and began bombarding him with questions about everything that had gone wrong with the firefighters… and a Sky News The camera crew captured the intense showdown.
Darvish demanded answers about why there was no water pressure in fire hydrants to help firefighters put out the flames – Newsom quickly responded by holding up his phone and telling her he was currently speaking with President Biden about helping victims .
Maybe he thought she was holding back when he said that, but that only made her demand more answers – and she actually asked to speak to Biden. Newsom finally had to admit: “I’m sorry. I tried five times, so I’m running around to make the call.”
Newsom indicated he couldn't get a signal, but Darvish grabbed him and said… “Why isn't the president taking your call?”
Watch their exchange…it just got more awkward after that.
Darvish has been extremely critical of Governor Newsom and the mayor of LA Karen Bass … and accuses both of them of being caught off guard and failing to prepare for the worst before hurricane-force Santa Ana winds kicked in this week, fueling the firestorm.

She told Fox News: “Some precaution should have been taken. People were getting out of their cars to escape the fires.”
It's also clear she didn't buy Newsom's claim that he got President Biden on the phone, and she continued to pepper him with questions about dripping water nearby…suggesting it would have made all the difference than that Fire raged.
