Almost a year after the tragic death of his son due to suicide, the parents of former PGA golfer Tour Grayson Murray are talking after the 'nightmare that does not stop'.
Talking to Carson Daly in 'The Today Show', Terry and Eric Murray deepened in Grayson's prolonged mental battles, which made it special and the mission of the foundation they established in his name.
It was last in May when Murray was found at his home in Florida a day after retiring from Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas.
That withdrawal occurred only a few months after winning the Sony 2024 Open in Hawaii and after having competed in its first Masters tournament.
Throughout his career, Murray had been opened about his mental health struggles and his rehabilitation period in 2021 for alcohol.
“He tried to improve,” said Eric Murray today. “He did everything he could.”

Grayson Murray's parents have opened almost a year after their son's suicide.

Alcohol was not his only vice. One of the unhealthy ways in which he faced the isolation of being a professional golfer was the game. Murray estimated that he lost more than $ 400,000 alone in 2017.
“He would drink and bet, that was difficult for him along the way,” said Terry Murray.
“We are not saying anything that Grayson hasn't said,” said Eric Murray. “He told this story, our eyes is a hero to tell it.”
After winning the Sony Open, Murray talked about the difficulties he faced throughout his career.
“I wanted to give up many times,” he said after the victory. 'Renounce myself, renounce the golf game, day to life sometimes. Just persevere.
But after that victory, things took a darker turn.
“It was difficult,” said Terry Murray about the ups and downs that Grayson experienced in his career.
'I would put a happy face along the way. Our house became its safe shelter. If he were depressed, he would go to his room and he wouldn't leave for two and three days.

Murray had been open and honest about his mental health struggles and addiction in his life.

Murray's parents say he had been working to improve despite his anxiety

But Murray's mood seemed to take a turn after winning the Sony Open last January
“I could enter those deep tunnels or dark holes,” said his father.
His parents revealed that during a visit, Grayson broke the crying.
“We sat on the couch, and we both sat there and cry,” said Eric Murray. 'And he held it as a baby. I was talking about how difficult it was physically and emotionally keep doing what you are doing.
Grayson's father even suggested that he had to get away from the PGA tour to concentrate on his health.
“I really asked him to do that,” he said. 'But Grayson loved golf, and there is no place on Earth that he was happier than in the golf course. But at the same time, it was very difficult.
Anxiety and depression had followed Murray when he began to take the sport more seriously. After hitting a golf ball for the first time at age seven, Murray increased a good reputation during his Junior game days.
He became the second player in history to win the Junior World Tournament three times, joining Tiger Woods.
But he was suffering an internal battle. During the 2014 southern fan, Murray suffered an episode of mental health, which led him to leave the course. He was finally diagnosed with social anxiety.

Murray was diagnosed with social anxiety when he was a teenager and a brain shock aggravated his problems
Then, while playing university golf in the state of Arizona, Murray suffered a brain shock after falling from his bicycle.
“He had been diagnosed with social anxiety, and then had a brain shock in addition to that,” said Eric Murray. “So Grayson had some problems that persisted again and again, and that was when he became professional.”
Despite their self -destructive tendencies, Murray's parents remember their son's gold.
“It was a pleasure to be close,” said Terry Murray. “I was always plotting something, making us laugh.”
Following his death, the messages began to flood strangers and companions golfers about Grayson and acts of goodness he had done for them.
According to Digest de Golf, Murray was also known for sending edifying messages to the players they were fighting.
“Some of the comments were,” Grayson was fiercely loyal, but tremendously friendly, “said his mother.
“And after some of the players,” he did some things for me that most of the other golfers on the tour would not even consider. “

His parents founded the Grayson Murray Foundation, completing a plan that the golfer intended
After his death, his parents discovered a magazine that Grayson maintained, in which he wrote about his desire to help others who fight with his mental health.
He was hoping to start with his own name. “He really wrote a plan,” his mother revealed.
And so, it became the Grayson Murray Foundation. The mission of the beneficial organization is to raise awareness and support around mental health and addiction.
“I think I would be proud that we are trying to continue with what I didn't have time to follow,” Terry said.
In January, both Eric and Terry traveled to Hawaii to celebrate the first anniversary of Sony Open's victory in Grayson.
They joined in a ceremony to celebrate life by several PGA Tour players.
“He was a kind and generous person,” his father said in the event. “It would help anyone who needs it, so we hope people remember it that way, and we hope the base has their legacy.”
