Guglielmo Vicario has tried to placate the supporters of Tottenham after a fragile exchange after the match in Alkmaar.
The Spurs goalkeeper turned and left when his attempts to pick up those who were at the end outside after the 1-0 defeat in the first leg of a draw of the Europa League the last 16 with failed Az and, instead, unleashed a barrage of abuse.
He had played well in a bad team exhibition, making saves to keep the draw alive, but those fans inside the AFAS stadium were not humorous to celebrate.
“I can understand the disappointment at night because we don't play our football,” Vicario said. 'I can understand the frustration of fans. But we still have a lot to play, especially in the second leg.
“It's just a way to try to stay together because we have the opportunity to move on to the next round.”
Az will travel to northern London for the second leg on Thursday with a quarter of the end against Eintracht Frankfurt or Ajax the winners award.

'It is really disappointing from our perspective and I can understand fans out there.
'We know it is frustrating and the result is not great, but now we have to play the second leg, so it is in us. There is still everything in our hands and we can reverse the result.
'We have to analyze but also immediately forget this game. We have a great game on Sunday and ready for the first leg next Thursday. ''
