The iconic Home Alone mansion has officially sold — fetching more than its asking price of $5.5 million after less than a year on the market.
The Winnetka, Illinois home was first listed in May 2024 for $5.25 million – but it looks like the new owners really wanted their own piece of holiday movie history and dug deep into their pockets to get it to secure the iconic apartment in a Chicago suburb.
Tim And Trisha Johnson made a pretty penny on the sale after purchasing the eatery in 2012 for $1.585 million.
They remodeled and expanded it in 2018, while maintaining the original movie charm and retaining the brick facade that made it famous in the 1990s classic Macaulay Culkin, Catherine O'Hara, Joe PesciAnd Daniel Stern.
Only the exterior of the house was included in the film – the interior was too small for a full film crew. To bring Kevin McCallister's booby-trapped wonderland to life, the filmmakers built a massive two-story soundstage in a nearby abandoned school.
The house is still very spacious and features 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a high-end cinema and even a first-class indoor sports court – perfect for avoiding potential burglars.
