As devastating wildfires continue to rage through neighborhoods across Los Angeles, displaced residents are desperate for shelter – but many are leaving empty-handed as the city's most prominent hotels are at capacity… TMZ has learned.
We spoke to people at several hotels across the city who told us they had been fully booked since Tuesday afternoon, shortly after flames ravaged the celebrity neighborhood of Pacific Palisades.
Among them, The Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills has reached capacity. While some cancellations made rooms available early on, those vacancies were immediately filled by evacuees seeking shelter. The hotel is offering a 10% discount to guests affected by the wildfires.
Other hotels – including the Beverly Hills Hotel, Waldorf Astoria, Four Seasons and SLS in Beverly Hills – are also fully booked. The Hotel Bel-Air is near capacity and prospective guests must wait 30 minutes to speak to a reservation agent. The Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey has filled all available rooms.
The fires have destroyed thousands of acres of land and buildings, including Real estate owned by celebrities. As the flames continued to spread, a new fire overnight in Pasadena triggered more evacuations, displacing tens of thousands of residents across the LA area.
Authorities have yet to determine the causes of the wildfires, which have left a trail of destruction and uncertainty.
