The Golden Globes, the first major awards show of the year, are almost here! Since 1944, this ceremony has celebrated excellence in film and television. This year’s event, set to air on Sunday, January 5, will officially kick off the months-long awards season.
The 82nd Annual Golden Globes will see some of the past year’s biggest stars, shows, and films competing for coveted trophies in categories such as Best Motion Picture (Drama or Musical/Comedy), Best Original Song, Best Television Series (Drama or Musical/Comedy), and the newly added Cinematic Box Office Achievement.
Last month, nominees were announced by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut, with luminaries like Denzel Washington, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Donald Glover, and Kathy Bates earning nods. On the film front, “Emilia Pérez” leads with ten nominations, while “The Bear” tops the television categories with five nominations. (Check out the full list of nominations here.)
The awards will be presented by a star-studded lineup including Oprah Winfrey, Andrew Garfield, Jennifer Coolidge, Kerry Washington, and Elton John.
This year’s Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly Hilton in California, with special honors going to Viola Davis and Ted Danson. Keep reading to find out how to watch the event live.
