  • He has opted to have surgery and will now miss the entire Six Nations

England will be without sensation Immanuel Feyi-Waboso for the Six Nations after he opted to undergo shoulder surgery that will keep him out until at least mid-March.

As first reported by Mail Sport, the 22-year-old Exeter prodigy, who scored five tries in his first eight Tests last year, faced a '50-50' decision last weekend over whether he should undergo surgery , after dislocating his shoulder in the Premiership match at Sale before Christmas.

It is now understood that he has chosen to go ahead with the procedure, rather than carry out rehabilitative repairs and continue playing. The projected recovery time is 10 to 12 weeks.

An initial scan was inconclusive, so Feyi-Waboso underwent a second one early last week.

At first it seemed that a non-surgical course of action, which would have been suitable for England, was most likely.

Instead, the national team will be deprived of one of its deadliest assets at the back for the Six Nations campaign, which begins against Ireland in Dublin on February 1.
