Ipswich are closing in on the loan of a former Premier League defender.

Kieran McKenna is keen to add reinforcements to his squad during the January transfer window.

Ipswich currently sit 18th in the Premier League and McKenna is looking to do everything he can to ensure his team stays up there.

In their last match, Ipswich recorded an impressive 2-0 home win against Chelsea thanks to a Liam Delap penalty and a goal from Omari Hutchinson.

Ipswich's next game is the away game against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

After that, Ipswich will host Bristol Rovers on January 12 in the FA Cup third round.

Ipswich are close to completing the loan of Ben Godfrey from Atalanta.

Mail Sport revealed last month that Ipswich and Wolves had expressed interest in the former Everton centre-back, who has agreed to link up with McKenna.

Godfrey has made just five appearances for Atalanta and is keen to get back to playing regularly.

After starting out at York City, Godfrey joined Norwich in January 2016 and played for the Canaries in the Premier League during the 2019-20 season.
