Jamie Carragher praised Man United for their performance against Liverpool.
The arch-rivals played a thrilling encounter at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, with both teams leading the game before it eventually ended 2-2.
The result came as a surprise given that United came into the clash having lost their last four games in all competitions, including a demoralizing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle last week.
Despite their terrible form, Rubén Amorim's team caused leaders Liverpool a lot of problems and deserved the point.
Amorim has remained steadfast in his desire to play his favored 3-4-3 formation since switching from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford in November, but the system has regularly seen United woefully exposed.
However, Liverpool struggled to deal with United at times on Sunday and after the match, Carragher praised the Portuguese's challenge to his favorite way of playing and insisted he saw plenty of signs of progress at Anfield.

Carragher claimed the stunning 2-2 draw was a “victory” for new United manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim has remained steadfast in implementing a 3-4-3 formation despite his team's struggles.
“This (game) was almost a win for the coach in terms of his system,” he said on Monday Night Football.
“They haven't ridiculed him, but they have questioned him if he can play that way and if he has the players to play that system.”
'This is a guy who is now on his third job as a manager. He has directed more than 200 games. He has never played with a back four, so forget the idea that he will switch to a back four.
“The Man United hierarchy brought him here from Sporting because of the way he played at Sporting. So they have to do well. It's not about him changing.
Meanwhile, Amorim has regularly referenced the lack of training time he has had to work on his system since joining given United's hectic schedule.
However, United were given six days to prepare for the clash against Liverpool after facing Newcastle last Monday.
And Carragher acknowledged the changes made by Amorim and also questioned whether Liverpool struggled to meet the challenge of facing something different.
“We've all been there as players when we played against a different system and we're not quite sure whether to go there or go there,” he added.

Rubén Amorim has complained many times about the lack of time he has had on the training ground
And that's where Liverpool found themselves. Liverpool should have still won, but they never got Man United on their feet and the Anfield crowd fired up because they couldn't press and were always stuck in the middle.
“That's down to the system and the work they (United) have done on the training ground.
“And fair play to the manager, he said, 'Give me time on the training pitch and I'll make this work.'
United return to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal in the FA Cup third round, while Liverpool host League Two side Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
