Jarryd Hayne is ready to return to the football field for the first time in seven years after signing with a leading Sydney Rugby League club.
The two -time winner of the Dally M medal agreed a one -year NSWRL contract to play for the Uracas of Wentworthville in the Ron Massey Cup in 2025.
Hayne's return occurs after almost two years in jail passed after being convicted of charges of sexual assault, which were annulled by the Criminal Court of New South Wales in June last year.
That followed a jury hanging in his first trial in 2020 and a previous appeal that annulled the 2021 guilt verdict of his second trial.
It is understood that the 36 -year -old has already started training up to three nights a week with his new teammates, with Hayne's first game for Magpies scheduled for March 15 against Ryde Eastwood.
The president of the Junior Junior League of Wentworthville, Elias Kassab, said the football code is based on the second opportunities.

“We have completely analyzed this before making the decision that Jarryd joins us,” Kassab told News Corp.
'He is a different person now. We are happy that they can be playing for us and working with the little ones who arrive through the qualifications.

“We are willing to give someone a second chance whenever they are honest about things.”
Kassab also anticipates that a healthy crowd will be available to see Hayne make his debut next month at Ringrose Park in Sydney's West.
It comes when Hayne participated in the recent NiNES Premier League tournament in Gold Coast, but was hindered by an injury to the hamstrings.
His last appearance in NRL was in 2018 with the Parramatta eels.
