The mother of a jockey seriously injured in a fall in a career has published a worrying update about her condition, while her girlfriend of Mafs watches next to her.
The Jockey Blake Spriggs remains in intensive care at the Canberra hospital after a serious fall in Moruya's career on January 17.
Spriggs, 32, suffered multiple injuries, including fractured ribs, a broken arm, a damaged clavicle and perforated lungs.
Now his mother Chic has revealed on Instagram that complications have emerged due to a bacterial infection that affects his lungs, kidneys and liver, so he must remain intubated and low sedation.
'Blake remains under intense sedation at the ICU of the Canberra Hospital. He has had some complications for a bacterial infection that has not yet been identified, “he said.
'This is affecting its liver and kidneys, which is a reason for great concern for medical staff.
The Jockey Blake Spriggs is recovering from a serious fall and his mother has published an update on his Instagram condition.
Briggs is committed to former MAFS star, KC Osborne, and the couple welcomed their first child together in 2022.
'The operation of its fractures was successful, but is lower compared to problems with broken ribs and perforated lungs.
'It is still incubated and will remain like this for at least one more week. Thanks again for your continuous support; Please keep it in your prayers. “
Her fiancee, the former MAFS star, KC Osborne, also provided updates on her condition and expressed her gratitude for the great support of the public.
“He responds, he only needs time to rest now,” he shared with his followers on social networks.
Osborne also requested continuous sentences for his recovery and added: “Prayers, love and healing is what we need while recovering.”
Osborne has been next to Spriggs with his brothers Dustin and resign. The couple has been committed since August 2022 and welcomed their first child, Brooklyn, in October of the same year.
Coach Mitchell Beer, who prepared the Blesstas mount of Spriggs, published on social networks that Spriggs has shown positive signs despite the setbacks.
“He is nothing more than a fighter and does not know the meaning of negative,” Beer said.
Osborne has been next to Spriggs since the fall along with his brothers Dustin and resign.
Spriggs's brother, Dustin, also provided detailed updates on social networks and shared that recent surgeries have been successful.
He published that bleeding in the perforated Spriggs lungs has decreased and that medical staff remains concentrated in fighting infection.
“We had a lot of positive news through medical reports,” Dustin said.
Dustin also shared an encouraging moment when Spriggs responded to family members.
“He squeezed the hands of resigning and Kasey and that's fine,” he said.
However, he also addressed the wrong information about the condition of Spriggs, stating: “The reports that Blake is in a coma and has never been aware are garbage.”
Beany Panya, another jockey involved in the fall of Moruya, is recovering after undergoing column surgery due to fractures in the vertebrae T6 and T7.
Panya has taken her first steps from surgery, although she continues disoriented due to a head injury. She remains stable and expects her transfer to the Sydney hospital.
The Australian Rider Association expressed its support for Spriggs and Panya.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with you, Blake and your family,” the organization said in a statement.
Racing NSW has also provided periodic updates, informing that Spriggs condition is stable despite the current challenges.
In addition to Moruya's incident, Jockey Jess Taylor was hospitalized with a mild brain shock after a separate fall in Queanbeyan.
Adrian Layt suffered a clavicle fracture in a mishap in the barrier test in Bowen the same day.
Coach Mitchell Beer praised the support that Spriggs has received and said: “Dustin, resign and KC have been the most incredible support team that anyone could have by their side.”
Racing NSW shared that his condition has improved and said: “In general, he is improving.” It is still intubated due to pain, but in general it seems to have overcome the situation. “
